Important travel information for Maymorn passengers during 47-day rail closure
Buses replacing trains on the Wairarapa Line this summer will not stop at Maymorn or Te Mārua bus stop to provide faster journey times.
Buses will replace trains for 47 days between 25 December 2024 and 9 February 2025 as the Wairarapa Line undergoes major rail improvements. Maymorn and Te Mārua passengers are encouraged to travel on the Hutt Valley Line from Upper Hutt Station.
The decision to not service Maymorn and Te Mārua over this period was influenced by several factors, including low patronage and distance between bus replacement stop and station.
From 26 December 2024 to 12 January 2025 buses will replace trains on the Hutt Valley Line between Wellington and Petone, with rail services between Wellington and Upper Hutt resuming on Monday 13 January.
Passengers will be required to tag on and off at the beginning and end of their journey when travelling on bus replacing train services.
Passengers will travel for free this Christmas Day, 25 December, with bus services running between Masterton and Wellington for the first time this year.
