Snapper on Rail Pilot - Johnsonville Line

WellingtonStationSnapper1 — 6 Snapper card readers will be installed near Platforms 1 & 2, where the Johnsonville Line arrives into Wellington Station. Readers will also be installed on the platforms at all stations on the Johnsonville Line.

'Train with Snapper' from 14 November 2021

In preparation for the National Ticketing Solution, Metlink has implemented a contactless payment pilot with Snapper cards on the Johnsonville Line only from 14 November 2021 and will run for 12-15 months at this stage.

This gives us an opportunity to test, learn and establish the best possible customer experience as we work toward contactless payment for rail. The pilot is an interim step toward introducing the fully integrated national ticketing solution.
