Wairarapa Line: Expect significant delays for trains on Tuesday 11 April
Expect significant delays of up to 40 minutes on Wairarapa morning trains Tuesday 11 April.
Extra speed restrictions will be in place for safety reasons due to the essential works being done over Easter Weekend. These short-term speed restrictions are in addition to the current speed restrictions on the line.
We expect these delays to only affect Tuesday’s services. If further delays are likely for the afternoon or ongoing, service alerts will be updated to reflect the change.
We understand the frustration that these delays and disruptions can cause. We would like to reassure our customers that we are doing everything we can to reduce these delays, and to ensure we can safely get you where you need to go.
Where possible, please consider boarding Hutt Valley Line services from Upper Hutt, Waterloo or Petone if you are heading into Wellington during this period.
For more information, see service alerts(external link) or call our Metlink team on 0800 801 700.
Essential works are vital for improving the network’s safety, performance and reliability. Sections of the existing track are nearing the end of their expected life, which results in speed restrictions on the line. We appreciate this will cause disruption to some commuters, and we apologise in advance for the inconvenience.
