Taita Station: Subway Upgrades
Description
The main tunnel and access ramps are being strengthened. This includes spraying additional concrete, and increasing the foundations of ramp walls. The subway will then undergo a cosmetic upgrade, which will include repainting and surface upgrades, as well as the installation of new lighting, CCTV and accessible handrails.
Benefits
The upgrades will make for a safer and more beautiful subway.
Customer Impact
All accessways will stay open, however some areas will be hoarded off. Some construction may be noisy, but this will be reduced as much as possible.
The original planned finish of April 2024 has been delayed to August 2024.
Concrete spraying is underway, and the northern wall will be completed by the end of June. Hoarding will be relocated to switch works to the southern wall by end of June. Strengthening props will be installed in both entry ramps on 26 June. Cosmetic upgrades will occur throughout July/August, which will include surface upgrades, pelmet lighting, entrance portals and additional CCTV.
